Glogster: Verbos Reflexivos

Filed under: Uncategorized @ 3:09 pm and

This previous week, our Spanish class was assigned to make a Glogster about reflexive verbs. This included when to use them, how to conjugate them, and even where the reflexive pronoun would be placed, under certain situations. Overall, making a Glogster was a new experience full of creativity and fun, as we got to use our own ideas and knowledge of reflexive verbs to make the designated lesson. Making a Glogster was definitely a better and more interesting way to teach ourselves Spanish than taking a written test, because we had lots of time to make our project and even include what we wanted other people to know about reflexive verbs.

Voki Project-Cody

Filed under: Uncategorized @ 2:29 pm and

First, I created a voki avatar in order to begin my project. I gave it a name, edited its physical appearance, and even added a background which was then saved. Second, I wrote a script with my name, nationality, age, where I live and with whom, and the size of my house. Third, I had to add to the above information with 3 sentences about what I like, what my family likes, and what my friends like. Fourth, I then had to call in to Voki and verbally state my script which was then saved from the phone recording into my voki account. Last, I saved the recording, published the recording, and then emailed it to my teacher for a final grade.

I really liked this assignment because of getting to use technology over written paperwork. I also liked this assignment because  the avatar that you created restated the recording verbatim. The mouth of the avatar could be seen moving and enunciating the words clearly, too.  I definitely prefer technology assignments over paperwork.

Sixth Six Weeks Reflection

Filed under: 8th Grade Work @ 7:38 pm and

This previous Six Weeks, we learned many things about the Universe such as the life cycle of stars, types of galaxies, and origins of the Universe. I was assigned, along with Mickey McFall and Rachel Horne, to tell how stars generate energy and talk about the Hertzsprung-Russell Diagram. Stars generate energy by a process called fusion. Hydrogen atoms are transformed into Helium atoms and the excess matter is converted into energy. This is one of the things I learned while going over this presentation. All-in-all, this topic was very interesting and I enjoyed every moment of going over it.

Fifth Six Weeks Reflection

Filed under: 8th Grade Work @ 6:45 pm and

This previous Six Weeks, our Science class had a Spring Semester Project. You could conduct any experiment you and your partner wanted as long as Mrs. Seilhan okayed it. I chose Garrett as my partner and we decided to conduct an Earthquake Simulation with different types of buildings. A brick, lego, play-doh, wooden block, and styrofoam building were constructed and shaken on top of a wooden board for 15 seconds. In the end, the lego building had stayed up the longest just as we had hypothesized. But, the most major thing we learned was to use the scientific method to help solve and complete an experiment.

    The steps are:

1) Identify the Problem. 2) Construct a Hypothesis. 3) Design an Investigation to gather data. 4) Conduct an Investigation to gather data. 5) Analyze data. 6) Draw conclusions. 7) Communicate your Conlcusions to others.

Fourth Six Weeks Reflection

Filed under: 8th Grade Work @ 7:25 pm and

This Six Weeks, I was assigned to create a powerpoint over Ch.18 Sect.1&2. My partners were Garrett Gill and Chase Robinson, and the chapter was about water and air pollution. We knew we would be able to finish this assignment fairly easy and it turned out to be true since we made a 96 for the grade. This in turn improved our knowledge about the awareness of water and air pollution in a fun and exciting way. I learned that there are many contributors to water and air pollution such as car exhaust, cfc’s and even pesticides and fertilizers.
